ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Critically-acclaimed and award-winning, Beyond the Pale are one of the leading ensembles in Canada's folk, roots, and world music scenes. Their explosive acoustic sound is inspired by a wide range of cross-cultural influences blending the essence of Klezmer music with other European folk styles (Balkan, Gypsy, Romanian) with contemporary and North American styles (bluegrass, jazz, reggae, funk, and more).

With spectacularly dynamic and exuberant live performances, Beyond the Pale’s virtuosity and unique genre-defying sound has delighted audiences at major music festivals, concert theatres, and clubs across Canada and the US. The group features Eric Stein (mandolin), Martin van de Ven (clarinet), Bogdan Djukic (violin, percussion), Aleksandar Gajic (violin), Milos Popovic (accordion, and Bret Higgins (bass).

Beyond the Pale will be joined by their klez-compatriot, the mighty trumpet princess of Philadelphia’s Klezmer dynasty, Susan Watts. A fourth generation musician, Susan is the sole living purveyor of a klezmer style trumpet and sound which electrified Jewish American audiences for decades. Her engaging voice and one of a kind vocal style will blow you away. Audiences around the world are dazzled and delighted by Susan’s unique virtuosity and funky vibe.
